How to Sign up a Gate.io Account on Web【PC】
Step 1: Go to Gate.io website and click on the “Sign Up” button on top right.
Step 2: Register with email
Step 3: Set your fund password and click “Create account”. Please note that your fund password contains at least 6 characters and can not be the same as your login password.
An activation email will be sent to your email address. Complete the rest of the registration process following the instructions in the email to activate your account. Once its done, click “Email activated, please log in”.

Step 1: Open Gate.io mobile app and click on the top-left icon. Then click on “Login/Register” to go to the log-in page.
Step 2: When you are at the log-in page, under the big red button you will see “Register now”. Click on it to start registration.
Step 3: Choose your preferred registration method – phone number or email.
(1) Register with phone number
Click on “Register with phone” to switch to the phone registration page. Input the required information (phone number, login password, fund password, etc.) in the corresponding boxes. Click on “Register”. A text message with a verification code will be sent to the provided phone number immediately. Once you get the code, enter it and click on “Confirm”
(2) Register with email
Click on “Register with email” to go to the email registration page (if you are not at this page already). Input the required information (email, login password, fund password, etc.) in the corresponding boxes. Click on “Register”. An email with a verification code will be sent to the provided email address immediately. Once you get the code, enter it and click on “Confirm”.
After the registration is confirmed, an activation email will be sent to your email address. Complete the rest of the registration process following the instructions in the email to activate your account.
How to Install Gate.io APP on Mobile Devices (iOS/Android)
For iOS devices
Step 1: Open “App Store”.
Step 2: Input “gate.io” in the search box and search.
Step 3: Click on the “GET” button of the official Gate.io app.
Step 4: Wait patiently for the downloading to complete.
You can find the Gate.io app on the home screen as soon as the installation is completed.
Step 5: Click on the apps icon to start your journey to cryptocurrency!
For Android devices
Step 1: Copy the download link: https://www.gate.io/mobileapp and paste it in your browser. After entering the webpage, click on “Android App”.

How to Install Gate.io on PC
You can click on the “App” icon on the top right of the front page. You will see links for downloading the desktop app on Windows and Mac OS.（Take MAC as an example）
When the downloading is finished, you will be able to find the file in “downloads”. Double click to open the downloaded file.
Add Gate.io to Finder and open it in Finder.
Note: Windows users can just download the file to desktop and do not need to add it to Finder.
How to Create Sub Accounts
What are sub accounts?
Sub accounts are designed to make it easier for users to manage their assets. Sub accounts are created under a main account. A main account can have multiple sub accounts for investments and asset management.
Maximum number of sub accounts：
- VIP1-VIP4, 2 sub accounts.
- VIP5-VIP9, 20 sub accounts.
- VIP10-VIP11, 100 sub accounts.
- VIP12-VIP14, 200 sub accounts.
- VIP15-VIP16, 300sub accounts.
The sub account feature is only open to users at and above VIP1.
How to create a sub account
Step 1: Log in to your account, move the cursor on the profile icon on top left and go to “sub account management”.
Step 2: Click on the red “+Create sub account” button.
Step 3: Set your sub account username (must be a combination of letters or of letters and numbers). Remarks are optional. If you dont want the login password, email address, Google authentication and fund password to be the same as your main account, you may set them separately.
Step 4: After clicking on “ConfirmCreate”, you need to complete 2FA authentication. You can either use Google or your phone number to verify. Just enter the corresponding verification code and click on “Confirm” to finish setting up the sub account.
Step 5: Once a sub account is set up, you can go to “sub account management” to transfer funds to the sub account.
- Click on the “transfer” button following the sub account.
- Switch to set the direction of the transfer.
- Select the currency to be transferred.
- Input the amount of the transfer.
- Click on “Confirm”.
Settings of the sub account:
1. Click on “API Key Manage” to create API Key for the sub account.
2. Click on “Manage”-“Withdrawal Addresses Whitelist” to add withdrawal addresses to the sub account.
3. You can “Freeze” any sub accounts on your main account to ban them from trading (effective in 3 minutes). Frozen sub account cannot log in on the website or trade using API.
When you “Defreeze” a sub account, the account will be activated and restored to all normal functions and services.
Limitations to sub accounts
In order to make sure that the assets in the main account are safe, sub accounts can therefore transfer funds to and receive funds from the main account only. The following are banned for sub accounts: C2C fiat currency trading, fiat currency loan, withdrawal from digital asset to wallet, using gatecode, points transfer, red pockets (in chat rooms and live streaming). Sub accounts cannot log in on Gate.io mobile app.
1. Handling fee discount
Sub account inherits the main accounts VIP tier and therefore enjoys the same amount of handling fee discount.
VIP tier of the sub account follows the main account. The transaction volume of the sub account adds to the transaction volume of the main account.

Funds not arriving
There are 3 key steps a blockchain transaction must go through: request – validation – funds arriving
① Request: if your withdrawal status on the platform you withdraw from says “completed” or “succeeded”, it means the transaction has been processed by this platform and is sent to blockchain network for validation.
② Validation: It takes time for the blockchain network to validate each transaction. The funds will only be sent to the recipient platform after validation is completed. Please wait patiently.
③ Funds arriving: Only when the number of nodes validating the transaction reaches the threshold, will the funds arrive in the recipient address.
1.There can be traffic when there are too many transactions to be processed. Traffic prolongs the waiting time for each transaction to complete. Please wait patiently when there is traffic. You can use the TXID to check the status of the transaction.
2.If the transaction has been validated by the network but the funds are still not arriving. Please provide our customer service agents with your Gate.io ID, TXID of the transaction, and screenshots of the transaction on the sender platform to find out about the status of the transaction.
Forgot to fill in a tag or a memo
When withdrawing currencies like XRP and EOS, users must fill in a tag or a memo in addtion to the recipient address. If the tag or memo is blank, the currencies may be withdrawn but will probably not arrive at the recipients address. In this case, you need to submit a ticket to Gate.io with your Gate.io ID, a correct tag or memo, TXID in text format, screenshots of the transaction on the sender plaftform. When the provided information is verified, the funds will be transferred to your Gate.io account.
The deposited currency is not supported by Gate.io
Currently there is no solution for this problem. You can either start a live chat or submit a ticket providing the name of the currency, TXID of the transaction and screenshots of the transaction on the sender platform.
