How to Register a Gate.io Account on Web【PC】
Step 1: Go to Gate.io website and click on the “Sign Up” button on top right.
Step 2: Register with email
Step 3: Set your fund password and click “Create account”. Please note that your fund password contains at least 6 characters and can not be the same as your login password.
An activation email will be sent to your email address. Complete the rest of the registration process following the instructions in the email to activate your account. Once its done, click “Email activated, please log in”.
How to Register a Gate.io Account on Your Phone【APP】
Step 1: Open Gate.io mobile app and click on the top-left icon. Then click on “Login/Register” to go to the log-in page.
Step 2: When you are at the log-in page, under the big red button you will see “Register now”. Click on it to start registration.
Step 3: Choose your preferred registration method – phone number or email.
(1) Register with phone number
Click on “Register with phone” to switch to the phone registration page. Input the required information (phone number, login password, fund password, etc.) in the corresponding boxes. Click on “Register”. A text message with a verification code will be sent to the provided phone number immediately. Once you get the code, enter it and click on “Confirm”
(2) Register with email
Click on “Register with email” to go to the email registration page (if you are not at this page already). Input the required information (email, login password, fund password, etc.) in the corresponding boxes. Click on “Register”. An email with a verification code will be sent to the provided email address immediately. Once you get the code, enter it and click on “Confirm”.
After the registration is confirmed, an activation email will be sent to your email address. Complete the rest of the registration process following the instructions in the email to activate your account.
How to Install Gate.io APP on Mobile Devices (iOS/Android)
For iOS devices
Step 1: Open “App Store”.
Step 2: Input “gate.io” in the search box and search.
Step 3: Click on the “GET” button of the official Gate.io app.
Step 4: Wait patiently for the downloading to complete.
You can find the Gate.io app on the home screen as soon as the installation is completed.
Step 5: Click on the apps icon to start your journey to cryptocurrency!
For Android devices
Step 1: Copy the download link: https://www.gate.io/mobileapp and paste it in your browser. After entering the webpage, click on “Android App”.
Step 2: Click on “DOWNLOAD” and wait for the download to complete.
Step 3: Youll enter this page once the download is completed. Click on “INSTALL ANYWAY” to start installing the app on your device.
Step 4: After the installation is completed, click on either “DONE” or “OPEN”.
How to Install Gate.io on PC
You can click on the “App” icon on the top right of the front page. You will see links for downloading the desktop app on Windows and Mac OS.（Take MAC as an example）
When the downloading is finished, you will be able to find the file in “downloads”. Double click to open the downloaded file.
Add Gate.io to Finder and open it in Finder.
Note: Windows users can just download the file to desktop and do not need to add it to Finder.
How to Create Sub Accounts
What are sub accounts?
Sub accounts are designed to make it easier for users to manage their assets. Sub accounts are created under a main account. A main account can have multiple sub accounts for investments and asset management.
Maximum number of sub accounts：
- VIP1-VIP4, 2 sub accounts.
- VIP5-VIP9, 20 sub accounts.
- VIP10-VIP11, 100 sub accounts.
- VIP12-VIP14, 200 sub accounts.
- VIP15-VIP16, 300sub accounts.
The sub account feature is only open to users at and above VIP1.
How to create a sub account
Step 1: Log in to your account, move the cursor on the profile icon on top left and go to “sub account management”.
Step 2: Click on the red “+Create sub account” button.
Step 3: Set your sub account username (must be a combination of letters or of letters and numbers). Remarks are optional. If you dont want the login password, email address, Google authentication and fund password to be the same as your main account, you may set them separately.
Step 4: After clicking on “ConfirmCreate”, you need to complete 2FA authentication. You can either use Google or your phone number to verify. Just enter the corresponding verification code and click on “Confirm” to finish setting up the sub account.
Step 5: Once a sub account is set up, you can go to “sub account management” to transfer funds to the sub account.
- Click on the “transfer” button following the sub account.
- Switch to set the direction of the transfer.
- Select the currency to be transferred.
- Input the amount of the transfer.
- Click on “Confirm”.
Settings of the sub account:
1. Click on “API Key Manage” to create API Key for the sub account.
2. Click on “Manage”-“Withdrawal Addresses Whitelist” to add withdrawal addresses to the sub account.
3. You can “Freeze” any sub accounts on your main account to ban them from trading (effective in 3 minutes). Frozen sub account cannot log in on the website or trade using API.
When you “Defreeze” a sub account, the account will be activated and restored to all normal functions and services.
Limitations to sub accounts
In order to make sure that the assets in the main account are safe, sub accounts can therefore transfer funds to and receive funds from the main account only. The following are banned for sub accounts: C2C fiat currency trading, fiat currency loan, withdrawal from digital asset to wallet, using gatecode, points transfer, red pockets (in chat rooms and live streaming). Sub accounts cannot log in on Gate.io mobile app.
1. Handling fee discount
Sub account inherits the main accounts VIP tier and therefore enjoys the same amount of handling fee discount.
VIP tier of the sub account follows the main account. The transaction volume of the sub account adds to the transaction volume of the main account.
How to Withdraw at Gate.io
How to withdraw on Gate.io website【PC】
Step 1: Log in to your account and go to “Wallet” – “Withdraw”.
There are 2 alternative ways to access the withdrawal page:
① Go to “Wallet” – “Spot Account”. Click on “Withdraw” in the top-right corner.
② In “Wallet” – “Spot Account”, search the coin you want to withdraw and click on “Withdraw” at the end of its info bar.
Step 2: Make sure that “To Address” is selected and XLM is selected as the coin. Choose your preferred chain. Fill in the address, Address description (optional), tag, amount, fund password, SMS code, email code, and TOTP/Gate authenticator code (if TOTP has been set up). Then click on “Submit request”.
The balance of the coin to be withdrawn, the day withdrawal limit, 24-hour net withdrawal limit, and handling fee are displayed on this page.
Step 3: After clicking on “Submit request”, you will be asked to check all information and confirm the withdrawal.
Step 4: You can track the withdrawal status in “Recent Withdrawals”. Withdrawals that are being processed can still be canceled by the user.
How to withdraw on Gate.io【APP】
Step 1: Open Gate.io mobile app and log in to your account. Go to “Wallet” and click on “Withdraw”.
Alternatively, you can also go to “Spot Account”. Search the coin you want to withdraw and then click on “Withdraw”.
Step 2: Select the coin to be withdrawn and your preferred chain. Fill in the recipient address, description of the address (optional), and withdrawal amount. Then click on “Withdraw to address”.
Step 3: Input your fund password, SMS verification code and Google/Gate authenticator code. Then confirm the withdrawal.
Step 4: After the withdrawal is completed, click on the top-right ledger icon to view withdrawal details and status.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Funds not arriving
There are 3 key steps a blockchain transaction must go through: request – validation – funds arriving.
① Request: if your withdrawal status says “Withdrawal completed” or “Block has been confirmed”, it means the transaction has been processed by Gate.io and is sent to blockchain network for validation.
② Validation: Copy the TXID of the transaction and use it to track the transaction on a blockchain explorer.
③ Funds arriving: If blockchain says that the funds have not arrived, then you need to wait patiently for the network to validate the transaction. If it says the funds have arrived but you do not see any records of the funds arriving, please contact the recipient platform for assistance.
How to query the withdrawal progress on the blockchain explorer
Open Gate.io website and go to “Coin List” under “More” on the top navigation bar. Search the coin you want to look up. Open its deion page and click on “Blockchain Explorer”. Paste the TXID into the top-right search box.
Wrong withdrawal address
① If it is a wrong address that led to the withdrawal failure, the funds will be automatically returned, and the withdrawal record will be tagged as “Cancelled”.
② If the withdrawal has been successfully conducted, the funds will be transferred to the recipients wallet. Due to the irreversibility of blockchain transactions, we cannot help you retrieve the funds once the transaction is finished. You need to contact the recipient for negotiation.
Common reasons for withdrawal failures
The following 4 reasons account for most withdrawal failures: ① Wrong address ② Wrong address length ③ User did not fill in a tag or a memo ④ Network delay
How to check: You can view the reason for transaction failure on the transaction detail page. Check if the address is pasted in its entirety if the coin is selected correctly, if there are unwanted symbols or spaces, and if the Mainnet and the Token Contract Address are supported or not.
If not for the reasons mentioned above, the funds will be returned to the senders account after the withdrawal fails. If the funds are still not returned after 24 hours, please submit a ticket or start a live chat with our customer service agents.
No KYC ID Verification
In order to comply with the regulations of the cryptocurrency industry, to ensure the safety of users funds, and to reduce risks, money laundering, blackmail and other illegal activities, Gate.io requires all users to complete KYC ID Verification. Only after KYC ID Verification is completed, can certain operations including withdrawal can be carried out.
Recent fiat currency trading or merchant orders in fiat currency trading
① If there are merchant orders in your fiat currency trading, there must be a certain amount of asset margin preserved in your account. Please check if you have merchant orders.
② Currencies bought in fiat currency trading can only be withdrawn 24 hours after the purchase.
Account is under protection
After you make changes to security settings like KYC ID Verification, Google Authenticator, phone number, etc, you cannot withdraw funds within 24 hours after the change. Because your account enters a 24-hour protection period after a security setting is changed. If the protection period exceeds 24 hours, please contact customer service by submitting a ticket or starting a live chat.
Forgot to fill in a tag or a memo
When withdrawing currencies like XRP and EOS, users must fill in a tag or a memo. If the tag or memo is blank, the currencies may be withdrawn but will probably not arrive at the recipients address. In this case, the user must confirm the status of the transaction with the recipient platform.
The withdrawn currency is not supported by the recipient platform
Gate.io only confirms whether the address format is correct but cannot guarantee whether the recipient address supports the withdrawn currency. For solutions, you need to communicate with the recipient platform.
If the recipient platform agrees to return the funds back to your account, you can provide them with your Gate.io deposit code. If they only agree to return the funds to the sender address, in which case the funds cannot be transferred directly to your Gate.io account. Please contact the recipient platform to request the TXID of the transaction. Submit a ticket on Gate.io and share with our agents the TXID, the communication record of you and the recipient platform, your Gate.io account ID and your deposit code. Our agents will help you transfer the funds into your Gate.io account.
